A ‘Right’ Yorkshire Christmas
Yorkshire is an amazing county to visit in the lead-up to Christmas and New Year. There’s much to see and do around York City, but that’s not all. Browse our suggestions for other places to visit in North Yorkshire through the festive period.
York Caravan Park’s location is ideal to explore the North Yorkshire Moors up to the coast and many other attractive country towns like Malton, Helmsley, Thorton and Pickering. And you won’t have to drive. The Coastliner Bus Service to Scarborough and Whitby stops at the park entrance.
For pure seasonal opulence, Castle Howard, Yorkshire’s premier stately home and gardens, will delight. Experience its richly decorated staterooms, festive restaurant menus, Christmas music and select gifts in the house gift shop.
Equally magnificent, Yorkshire’s North York Moors National Park, covers hundreds of square miles of beautiful heather moorland incised with steep, wooded dales around its boundaries. And what better way to visit the quaint moorland towns at Goathland (of Heartbeat and Harry Potter fame) and Grosmont than by travelling on the North Yorkshire Moors Railway from Pickering. Santa Specials operate at weekends through December. A Christmas Santa service operates on selected dates to 24 Deccember.
Just 15 minutes from the park at Elvington, Yorkshire Air Museum opens every day except Christmas and New Year’s Day. The former RAF station boasts a magnificent collection of preserved WW2 fighter planes, jets and other large military aircraft.
Nearby, at Fulford Designer Outlet, you can get into a festive mood at Yorkshire Winter Wonderland. The Winter Wonderland features a large ice-skating rink, vintage fairground, entertainment, shopping and dining.
