Christmas brings glad tidings to York from 14th November until 22nd December. The city is transformed into a wonderland of glittering lights and Christmas music while the city’s markets are filled with stalls selling Christmas gifts and seasonal treats. Imagine the Shambles Markets and Parliament Square lined with wooden, alpine style chalets all beautifully decorated for the festive season… York’s Christmas Market festivities include live music, choirs and speciality markets at weekends leading up to the big day.

Ever popular, Thor’s magical Tipi Bar opens a new venue at York Museum Gardens, an addition to its usual location at the The Milner Hotel Gardens (formerly the Principal York Hotel, beside York Railway Station). Let’s take a tour of other attractions around York Christmas Markets: It is a special time to visit York Minster for the Christmas Tree Festival, Carols or an Advent concert. Then there’s great seasonal entertainment at the city’s theatres. How about a Christmas Pantomime?

York Caravan Park is open until 5 January, so you can now enjoy the entire Christmas and New Year season just 2 miles from York City Centre. A regular bus from the caravan park entrance takes you to most parts of the city with a late evening service returning to the park. So there’s no need to worry about traffic, parking or treating yourself to another mulled wine…Happy Christmas!
