Discover Ghostly York at Halloween. 27-31 Oct 2023

Could York be Europe’s most haunted city?
With almost 500 recorded ghostly sightings within the city walls alone, York is definitely the place to celebrate the macabre at Halloween. One of the best ways to discover the city’s ghostly history is to take one of York’s famous Ghost Tours. Do you dare..?
Halloween doesn’t have to be scary though. You could always bring pumpkins and enjoy a Halloween party on your pitch.
For serious hauntings, you’ll need to go into York City. The most haunted building in the city is the York Museum. You needn’t be surprised. Many infamous criminals were held in the adjacent gaol before taking a one-way journey to Tyburn Gibbet. There also tales of supernatural visitors in and around York Minster. Three of York’s city centre inn’s are famous for supernatural ‘nocturnal’ guests. The Roman Baths, Ye Olde Starre Inn and York’s most haunted, The Golden Fleece. The Golden Fleece is close to the entry to the Shambles, conveniently close to the Coastliner bus stop.
Here are some of York’s most popular and entertaining Ghost Walks:
- The Original York Ghost Walk 8pm, nightly from the Kings Arms Pub, Ouse
Bridge, Kings Staith. - The Ghost Hunt of York 6.00 and 7.30pm, nightly from The Shambles.
