For serious hauntings, you’ll need to go into York City. The most haunted building in the city is the York Museum. It’s hardly surprising. Many of England’s infamous criminals were held in the adjacent gaol before taking the one-way journey to Tyburn Gibbet. There also sightings of supernatural visitors in and around York Minster. Three of York’s city centre inn’s are also famed for their ‘nocturnal’ guests. The Roman Baths, Ye Olde Starre Inn and, York’s most haunted, The Golden Fleece. The Golden Fleece is close to the entry to the Shambles, conveniently close to the Coastliner bus stop.

Here are some of York’s most popular and entertaining Ghost Walks:

The Original York Ghost Walk. 8pm, nightly from the Kings Arms Pub, Ouse Bridge, Kings Staith.
The Ghost Hunt of York, 7.30pm, nightly from The Shambles.
The York Ghost Walk Experience. 7.30pm, nightly, from the west door of York Minster.
